RELIGIOUS leaders from across the country gathered at Russells Hall Hospital to have a look round its multi-faith prayer centre.
More than 35 members of the College of Health Care Chaplains from the Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist communities met in the prayer centre, to discuss how scared spaces in hospitals are developed.
Hospital chaplain, Reverend Mark Stobert, who organised the event, said it had been a great success.
He said: “The visitors were very impressed by the sacred space which we have created for the whole hospital community. It’s used for conventional prayer, but also as a quiet space where people can go to collect their thoughts and sit still for a while.
“A lot of other trusts have taken the model of what we have achieved at Russells Hall Hospital and have adopted it for themselves, which is a great compliment.”
