ENTRIES have been flooding in for a brand new after dark challenge organised to raise cash for Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Hospice.

TV presenter Llewela Bailey (pictured centre) helped to launch the publicity drive for the hospice’s inaugural Midnight Walk last month.

And since then the Oldswinford charity has been inundated with more than 200 requests for entry forms for the grand fundraising event, which will take place at Blakedown’s Park Hall Estate on Saturday May 9.

Janet Jones, head of fundraising at the Hagley Road hospice, said: “Entries have been flooding into our fundraising office from ladies keen to take up the challenge.

“It should prove to be a great night out for all. Special thanks must go to the team at Park Hall for their assistance with hosting the event.”

Central Tonight newsreader Llewela Bailey, who lost her husband to cancer in 2005, is supporting the challenge - which aims to raise cash to help with the hospice’s £2.2m running costs. And she is now urging women across the Black Country to take part.

The walk - aimed at ladies over 16 - starts at 11pm; and walkers can choose to complete a four or eight mile course around the country house, which is situated on the outskirts of Blakedown.

Registration kicks off from 10.15pm.

Glow sticks, pink flashing bunny ears and limited edition T-shirts are available from the website www.marystevenshospice.co.uk or from the hospice’s fundraising team.
