BRIERLEY Hill workers are reeling after Virgin Media announced plans to axe 322 customer service jobs at its Waterfront centre.
The company says the cuts are part of a scheme which includes the creation of 150 new jobs at Merry Hill for staff supporting field engineers.
A consultation process has begun on the proposal which is part of the company’s restructuring proposals announced last November.
Neil Berkett, CEO of Virgin Media, said: “Although this is a difficult message for our staff, we felt it only right to share our plans with them as soon as they were finalised.
“As part of these proposals, there are a number of redeployment opportunities and our priority now is to support our people, whilst minimising the need for redundancies wherever possible.”
