FOUR talented Kingswinford dancers are celebrating after winning places at some of the country’s most prestigious performing arts schools.
Chrissie Homer, Hattie Rudge, Sacha Cabey and Amira Davidson - who all dance at the Rachel Dixon School of Dance in Kingswinford - have all been accepted into top theatre and dance schools, beating thousands of students to make the grade.
Chrissie Homer, aged 18, a teaching assistant at The Kingswinford School and member of Stourbridge Operatic Society, will be heading off to The Hammond School in Chester after winning a part scholarship to the respected school - where her dance teacher Rachel Dixon was once a pupil.
Sacha Cabey, aged 11, a pupil at The Glynne Primary School, Kingswinford, is set to start at The Hammond School in September.
Meanwhile - Amira Davidson, who attends the Church of the Ascension School in Wall Heath and who also dances at Elmhurst School, has been accepted in to the Birmingham Royal Ballet Junior Associates.
The ten-year-old hopes her success will pave the way for her to study full-time at Elmhurst, just like her big brother Brad.
And 16-year-old Hattie Rudge, a student at Edgecliff School in Kinver, is proud to have won a place at Liverpool Theatre School to study musical theatre - but has decided to stay on and study for her A levels and continue dancing at the Rachel Dixon School of Dance.
Dance teacher Rachel said: “I am so proud of all of them as they work so hard and it's brilliant when it pays off.
“It's also good to see that two of my students will be following in my footsteps and going to study dance at the Hammond School in Chester.
“I had an amazing time at The Hammond working with some of the best choreographers and teachers of the day.
“I have Dudley Council to thank for my studies as without their grant, I would not be where I am today - giving other talented students a chance to shine.
“I hope they all go on to be as brilliant as other past students who have taken lead roles in theatres in the West End and Europeon tours, have worked on cruises, TV, films and worked with the biggest names in pop.”
