Weight-loss leads to wedding joy for Stourbridge sweethearts

TWO Stourbridge sweethearts are set to walk down the aisle after shedding a whopping ten stone between them.

Iain King and Liz Cheshire, of Saddlers Close, Stourbridge, who together once topped the scales at 31 stone and 3lb, have shed the weight and are now set to mark their ‘new life’ together.

With the wedding booked for December in Gretna Green, both are set to show off their new slim line figures in traditional Scottish attire.

After meeting in Mexico in 2006 while working for an overseas holiday company, they eventually returned to the UK later that year, but it didn't take long before they were both battling the bulge.

Liz, originally from Scotland, said: “I had never been bigger than a size ten before, so piling on the pounds when we got back to the UK was a big shock. The change of lifestyle and being bored and unemployed was a big contributor.”

After trying out endless fad diets and even hiring a personal trainer, Liz was introduced to the LighterLife programme, based in Lower High Street, Stourbridge.

She continued: “Iain and I joined and instantly felt the benefits, with Iain losing 12 pounds in the first week.”

Talking of his success Iain said: “It has given me so much confidence, which is why I proposed - before the weight loss I would never have felt confident enough to do it.”

Sarah Field, LighterLife weight loss management counsellor, expressed her delight for the couple: She said: “I am so happy for Liz and Iain, they have achieved so much and what is particularly special is they have done this together.

“Losing weight is always hard, but going through the process with your partner gives you great support and celebrating by getting engaged is just fantastic.”

The couple, who say they are now closer than ever, are set to break open the bubbly on Valentine’s Day and toast their double celebration.

Liz added: “I am so excited about getting married and mark my words we will be starting our new life together as we mean to go on - slim and healthy.”
