A STOURBRIDGE hospice is getting set to stage another Midnight Walk fundraiser following the success of last year’s first-ever event.

This time round the all-female fundraiser in aid of Mary Stevens Hospice will be held in the grounds of Himley Hall and Park on Saturday June 12.

Kicking off at 11pm - it will give those taking part the choice of a four-mile trek or an eight-mile route - both of which will be led by experienced walkers.

Aimed at women over 16 - the event aims to offer women a fun-packed summer evening out in the picturesque park, while helping to pull in the pounds for the Oldswinford charity.

Janet Jones, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: “We are already receiving great interest in this year’s walk with over fifty enquiries prior to the launch.

“It was such a great night out last year and we received some wonderful feedback from walkers.”

She urged ladies to leave their men at home watching the football and “escape for a bit of girlie fun”.

Last year’s event at Park Hall Estate, Blakedown, attracted more than 300 entrants raised more than £22,000 for the hospice - which relies on public support to raise its £2.2m running costs each year - and organisers hope to rake in even more this time round.

The registration fee is £15 and will include a commemorative medal upon completion of the event.

Anyone registering before April 16 will receive a free LED torch.

Entry forms or more details are available from the hospice’s fundraising team.

Glow sticks, pink flashing bunny ears, limited edition t-shirts and LED torches will also be available in advance.
