THE return of the restored Hagley Obelisk to the landscape is set to be marked by a fireworks spectacular.

Last month’s completion of the half-a-million pound project will be celebrated at Hagley Hall on Thursday November 11 with a Remembrance Day event to raise cash for forces charity Combat Stress.

The fireworks display will start at 7.15pm and following the show the 18th century Obelisk and surrounding hillside will be floodlit.

Lord Cobham, owner of Hagley Hall, said: “The restoration is the culmination of efforts that were started by the local community 50 years ago.

“Now that we have rescued this important landmark, thanks to support from Natural England, it is only fitting that we mark this special achievement by hosting an event for the local community to enjoy.”
