THE panto season is getting into full swing and Stourbridge has a beauty lined up to entertain fans for 2011.

Stourbridge Pantomime Company is staging the traditional classic Beauty and The Beast with new faces to oversee the production.

Comedy character actor Steve Humpherson is taking on the serious business of directing the show while dancer Adam Partridge is the company’s new choreographer.

Steve and Adam are replacing the group’s director and choreographer for the past 25 years, Mike Capri, who is having a year off to concentrate on his business.

Over more than four decades Stourbridge Pantomime Company has developed a reputation for staging top quality shows and this year a 50-strong cast will be supported by a equal number of backroom staff.

Beauty and The Beast is a traditional European fairy tale believed to have been first published in the 1700s, which tells of a merchant who loses his wealth.

The merchant is forced to send his youngest daughter, Belle, to live with the Beast to secure his freedom after being caught stealing a rose.

In true panto style the plot has its fair share of twists and turns before true love conquers all and everyone lives happily ever after.

Beauty and The Beast will be on at Stourbridge Town Hall from Saturday January 22 to Saturday January 29.

Tickets cost £12 and £7 for concessions or £7 for all tickets on Tuesday January 25, for more information call the Box Office on 01384 812959.
