BLACK Country businessman Mike Brown and Stourbridge school pupils were guests of honour at the launch of a Stourbridge charity’s latest expansion project.

Mr Brown, known as Mike The Bed, of Dreamland Beds in Brierley Hill, has donated £10,000 to help Mary Stevens Hospice to add tea-rooms to its recently-developed High Street charity shop and upstairs book store.

Thanks to the donation from long-time hospice supporter Mr Brown, work to create the new place for a cuppa can get underway and the venture, which will boast free WiFi, should be up and running by October 31.

Hospice business manager Simon Henwood said: “Mike has once again proved to be an ardent supporter of the work of the hospice by donating this significant sum.”

He said the book store, kitted out with donations from young book worms at The Ridge Primary in Wollaston, had already proved a big hit and he hopes the tea-rooms “prove to be a real focus point for the local community”.
