Councillors shell out for Brierley Hill good causes

BRIERLEY Hill councillors have been shelling out to help community causes with grants for equipment or building work.

Members of Brierley Hill area committee awarded £4,841 for the purchase of an electric cooker, 80 chairs, a floor polisher and carpet for the entrance area at Brockmoor Community Centre based in Pensnett Road, Brockmoor.

A grant of £5,000 was given towards a £7,750 project to construct a new disabled access facility in the church hall of Bromley Methodist Church, Bromley, Pensnett.

St Mary’s Church of England Primary School of Queen Street, Kingswinford got £5,000 towards a £6,418 project to establish a forest school facility on the premises.

The 1st Pensnett Boys Brigade based at St James’ Methodist Church, Pensnett, was awarded £5,000 to purchase new musical instruments and equipment.

Generous to a fault as I'm sure Brierley Hill councillors are, it is, of course, taxpayers' money that they are doling out here - not their own.
