BOROUGH businesses have given their backing to the annual Civic Awards and are urging residents to put forward their unsung heroes before the looming deadline.

The cut-off date for nominations for the Mayor’s Awards is next weekend (February 19), but there is still time to submit the names of those special people who should be recognised for their tireless community work.

For the first time this year, the council-run awards are being hosted in association with Thomas Cook in Dudley, with borough businesses sponsoring each of the four categories.

Dudley healthy towns is sponsoring the sporty Duncan Edwards award. The Cedric Hardwicke award for arts is sponsored by Stourbridge College, the Frank Foley award for community spirit is sponsored by Dudley Building Society, while Computeach is sponsoring the Thomas Attwood award for education.

To nominate, submit names online at dudley.gov.uk, through Dudley Council’s twitter feed, by using the hashtag #civicawards, or through the ‘Dudley borough’ facebook page.

Alternatively pick up a form from all borough libraries.
