FIFTEEN bags of rubbish were collected during a tidy-up of a stretch of Pensnett canal.
British Waterways held the event to clear-up the Fens Pool section of the Stourbridge Canal and appealed for volunteers to help.
Despite no one turning out to volunteer, organisers spent six-hours pulling rubbish from a mile-long stretch of the waterway, with the haul including a toy tractor and a tyre.
WatersideCare, which organised the project to encourage communities to look after their local waterway, is hoping to hold another event in the same area in the coming months.
