Stourbridge canal reopened after police search

The canal closed off by police in Stourbridge last night has been reopened.

Walkers found discarded clothing on the towpath by Wollaston Road and raised the alarm at 5.15pm last night.

The helicopter was used in the search last night but this afternoon the police called off the search.

A police spokesman said: "The canal in Stourbridge has been reopened after searches.

"Nothing untoward was found but enquiries continue, thanks to residents for patience."
