THE award winning Mayhem Theatre Group are performing three short comedies next week in Quarry Bank.

Fresh from winning seven awards at the Worcestershire All England Theatre Festival the group are hoping to inject some sunshine into this gloomy Summer.

The group will be performing Mere Mortals, Men of the World and Last Tango in Little Grimley at the Hardwick Theatre, Thorns Community College, between Wednesday, July 18 and Saturday, July 21.

Founder of Mayhem Theatre Group Mark Moran said: “This has been a summer of wind, rain and cancellations so we are performing three great one act comedies in the warmth of the Hardwick Theatre.

“Our production of David Ives comedy Mere Mortals got to the semi-finals of the All England Theatre Festival and this is a great chance for people to come along and see what all the fuss was about.”

The play, which features three construction workers sitting on a girder high above New York city, was overall festival winner and clinched awards for best comedy, best play and best set at the Worcestershire heat of the All England Theatre Festival.

Men of the World by John Godber features three coach drivers who reminisce about various madcap coach trips through the years.

And Last Tango in Little Grimley, written by Quarry Bank’s very own David Tristram, is about a dying amateur dramatics group which will do anything to sell tickets to their last ever production.

Tickets for next week’s Mayhem Theatre Group triple header at the Hardwick Theatre, Thorns Community College next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday cost £7 or £12 for two.
