STOURBRIDGE Theatre Company has been forced to cancel its outdoor production of Wuthering Heights due to the unsettled weather.

The play, based on Emily Bronte’s classic tale of love and revenge, was due to be staged in the grounds of Himley Hall this week.

But with more heavy rain forecast over the next few days the company has taken the decision to cancel the show.

Barbara French, company spokesman, said: “We’ve lost odd nights in the past but we’ve never cancelled a whole run before.

“But in view of the severe weather that has been experienced during June and July, and the weather forecast for this week, the likelihood of the performances being affected by rain is considerable.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Seasoned amateur actors Karen Whittingham and David Claridge were due to star as ill-fated lovers Cathy and Heathcliffe in the show, set on the windswept Yorkshire moors, which was due to run from Wednesday July 11 to Saturday July 14.

It will now be staged at Stourbridge Town Hall instead - from Thursday September 6 to Saturday September 8, with performances starting at 8pm.

Those with tickets for the Himley Hall production can use them to attend any of the performances at Stourbridge Town Hall.

Queries regarding ticket sales can be made via the company website stourbridgetheatrecompany.org.uk or by calling 01384 374354.

Anyone wishing to buy tickets for the indoor show can do so online. They are also available from the Dudley box office - 01384 812812 - or The French Deli in Coventry Street, Stourbridge.
