LONG-SERVING teachers at Ashwood Park Primary School in Wordsley walked out of the classroom for the last time on Friday (July 20).

Denise Sheldon-Lees, Pat Shepherd and Carol Nicklin retired at the end of term - after clocking up a total of 84 years service between them.

Headteacher Steve Hudson said: “We’re saying goodbye to three well-loved staff.

“We had a special assembly for them and lots of former colleagues joined them for a party on Friday.

“They even had a leaving present from Ofsted - a full-blown inspection last week, so they couldn’t even wind down gently.”

Key stage one teacher Mrs Nicklin had notched up 20 years at the Bells Lane school, while reception teacher and key stage one leader Mrs Shepherd dedicated 26 years service and key stage two leader Mrs Sheldon-Lees devoted 38 years to the school.
