THE Last Post looks set to sound in Lye for the Royal British Legion Remembrance Day parade.

Dwindling membership at the Legion's Lye and Wollescote branch means there is nobody left to organise the event and its future is in doubt.

The branch has been hit hard by the deaths of elderly members and just four veterans remain, it no longer has a secretary of chairman.

Lye and Wollescote RBL poppy appeal co-odinator, Tony Boswell, said: "The Lye parade has taken place for many years and has always been well attended by local groups and the public.

"This year the number of branch members has reduced drastically, leaving the parade at risk of finishing.

"We still have the support of the parade marshal so the parade will not be a problem on the day, but the organisation beforehand is proving a problem with so few people."

Anyone who wishes to join the branch, or help organise the parade, should contact Tony Boswell by calling 07517 513890.
