FAMILIES can travel back in time to the reign of Queen Victoria at a fun day at Netherton Arts Centre next weekend.

And this year the annual Victoriana fair will also have an Olympics theme.

Entertainment at Saturday’s event (September 8) at the Northfield Road facility, will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and include a Victorian fun fair, stalls, street performers, live music and theatre and a visit from Queen Victoria and her lady in waiting.

Live street entertainment will be provided by morris dancers, the Salvation Army Brass Band, the Eccentric Gents riding penny farthings, as well as glass blowing demonstrations and Olympic displays by students from Castle High School .

Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “The Victorian market is always a popular event and promises to be a lot of fun. I would encourage families to come along enjoy the entertainment and pick up a few gift ideas.”

Stalls are still also available for craft sellers at a cost of £25. Anyone interested should call Claire Starmer-Jones on 01384 813943 or email claire.starmer@dudley.gov.uk
