Wollaston charity runner gears up for Great North Run

SEASONED Wollaston charity runner Paul Wootton is gearing up to take part in the Great North Run.

Paul, of Meriden Avenue, who has just turned 50, will be running the 13.1-mile half marathon on Sunday September 16 in aid of Max Appeal - the charity he and wife Julie set up after their son Max died of rare genetic condition Di George Syndrome in 1999.

The charity was set up to support families of children with the condition, known as deletion 22q11 syndrome, which often sees sufferers born with complex heart defects plus speech and immune system problems.

Paul, who has taken part in the popular Newcastle to South Shields race before, will also be taking on the Great Birmingham Run on October 21.
