Ex-top cop to stand as independent candidate in police election
3:42pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in News
A FORMER top cop from Stourbridge is standing as a candidate for the soon-to-be-created job of West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner.
Ex-West Midlands Police dog handler and detective Mike Rumble is standing as an independent candidate in the November 15 elections for the new post.
And with the election campaign now underway, he will be holding a public question and answer session at Stourbridge Spiritualist Church, Union Street, Stourbridge, on Tuesday September 18 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Mr Rumble worked at Brierley Hill Police Station for a number of years as a uniformed officer - before becoming a dog handler and a member of the Regional Crime Squad and what was the Regional Drugs Squad in the 1990s.
After suffering a heart attack while arresting a burglary suspect he retired from the force and he now runs his own business providing agency staff to solicitors firms.
I am a social landlord, a volunteer driver for The White House Cancer charity and an independent advocate for the Dudley Advocacy charity.
