Boy, 12, rescued from riverbank

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was rescued from the banks of the River Stour in Stourbridge last night after falling into the water (Friday September 14).

Fire crews from Stourbridge and Bilston and the West Midlands Fire Service's water support unit from Perry Barr were alerted to the incident which happened off Richardson Drive, Wollaston, just before 6.30pm.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said the youngster was stranded on the muddy river bank and was helped to safety with a line and a lifejacket.
