WORCESTERSHIRE people could have an identity crisis if they follow maps from technology company Apple - who don't know their Hagley from their Dudley.

Smartphone users with Apple's iPhone have recently been asked to upgrade to a new version of the phone's software, iOS 6, which installs Apple's own map application.

The hapless app has caused problems around the UK including in Hagley, which according to Apple has been taken over by Dudley, despite being in a different county.

The Map app on iPhone replaced Google maps, which was provided by Apple's industry rivals, and its introduction sparked a barrage of complaints about inaccurate information.

An Apple spokesperson said: “Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.”
