DUDLEY Building Society celebrated with the Mayor of Dudley and two of its most long standing customers to celebrate the society’s move to new headquarters at The Waterfront.

The move to the new Brierley Hill base, close to Merry Hill Shopping Centre, has given the society nearly 6,000 square feet of space, spread over two floors, and the chance to expand further in the future.

Dudley Building Society's chief executive Jeremy Wood said the change marks an important step in the modernisation of the building society which has around 33,000 members and six Black Country branches in Brierley Hill, Dudley Town Centre, Gornal, Kingswinford, Stourbridge and Perton.

He said plans were afoot to "grow the society and place it very much at the heart of the community in the Black Country" and he added: "I was delighted the Mayor and Mayoress and two of the society’s longest standing customers could be present at the opening of our new principal office."

A number of pieces of art by Black Country artists were also unveiled at Thursday’s official opening which Dudley Council's chief executive John Polychronakis described as "the kind of positive statement that can only spell good news for the area and prospects for fresh job creation".
