A BRIERLEY Hill manufacturing company has donated £1,000 to the Russells Hall Hospital Christmas appeal.

Chartway has launched a partnership with the Dudley Group NHS Charity, to support the appeal, which encompasses all the wards and departments at the hospital, that deal with people with cancer.

The charity wants to raise £30,000 to provide additional specialist equipment and a variety of holistic care.

Managing director, John Clark, said that the Garratt Street company would be supporting the hospital's various fundraising campaigns throughout 2014.

He continued: “We have decided to support the hospital because it is a great local charity. When my wife and I have had cause to visit hospitals in the past we realised what a difference charitable funds can make to the patients.”

Karen Phillips, the charity's fundraising manager, added: “Dealing with cancer, for both the patient and their family, can be very distressing. It is vital to the charity that we provide as much added comfort for our cancer patients as possible.

“We want to build on the outstanding reputation that our hospital and staff already have by helping to provide an environment which helps people cope, both emotionally and physically, with their illness. A speedier diagnosis with specialist equipment can make all the difference to a patient. But even the small touches will also improve a patients experience.”

Between December 5-7, anyone who donates to the appeal via the online charity site, The Big Give, will have their contribution doubled.
