A DRIVER and householder both had lucky escapes after a car ploughed into a house in Gornal.

The incident happened at around 8am today (December 23) in Coopers Bank Road. The car crashed through a set of patio doors into the property, which was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Fire crews from Dudley and Brierley Hill attended the scene along with police and paramedics, the male driver of the car suffered just minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Watch commander Nick Lacey, from Brierley Hill fire station, said: β€œIt would have been a very different story if someone had been in the house, it could have been a lot worse, someone could have been seriously injured.”

After completing a search of the house fire officers removed the vehicle from the building and handed the scene over to structural engineers to make the building safe.
