FIVE young Halesowen dancers have been talent spotted to appear in a lavish production of The Sleeping Beauty at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre.
They were selected from more than 250 hopefuls at an audition in June and will join 107 other talented Midlands dancers, aged eight to 18 in next month’s performances with English Youth Ballet.
Earls High School pupils Sharni Bill, aged 13, of the Debonair Dance Academy, Sally Croft, aged 15, of the Timmins Dance Academy and Chloe Howarth, aged 14, of the Siobhan Collins-McCarthy Dance Academy are busy rehearsing with the company’s principal dancers.
Along with them are Talia Manders, aged 14, who also attends the Timmins Academy and Olive Hill Primary School pupil Paige Mawby, aged eight, of the Centre Stage Dance Academy.
The company’s principal ballerina, Amy Drew, said: “The young dancers we are working with in Wolverhampton are doing so well. “Working in a professional environment gives the students a unique insight into life in a ballet company.”
The production can be seen on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, at 7.30pm and on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
