A MAN was treated by paramedics after being stabbed during an incident in central Dudley.

A police investigation is under way after the man was assaulted on High Street, Dudley at just before 5.30pm.

Officers were called following reports of a fight and when they arrived at the scene they found a 36-year-old with a small puncture wound to his chest.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called and the victim was treated for his injuries which are not believed to be serious.

Detectives continue to trawl CCTV and make further enquiries into the circumstances around the assault.

Inspector Derek Packham, from West Midlands Police’s Violent Crime Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of the High Street last night and may have seen the assault to contact my team.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was involved to do the right thing and come forward."
