PEOPLE across Dudley borough can breathe a sigh of relief after a cash injection to cut coach fumes.
Prospect Coaches in Lye is to fit specialist exhaust emission-busting equipment to ten of its vehicles after Dudley Council scooped a grant of £158,000 from the Department for Transport to pay for the project.
The devices will trap harmful nitrogen oxides and environmental health officers will be monitoring air quality to assess how well the gas catchers are working.
Councillor Rachel Harris, Dudley cabinet member for health, said: “I am delighted that Prospect Coaches are working with us to help tackle exhaust emissions in Dudley.
“I hope other local companies will see this and consider the business benefits of demonstrating they care about the impact they make on the environment.”
