A FORMER Sedgley teenager who carried out armed raids on women leaving his victims “frightened out of their wits” has been locked up for fourteen and a half years.

Donavon Wilson, an 19-year-old father of three, was with an accomplice when they targeted two vulnerable women in the Tipton area.

Wilson who had been hunted by police for four months before being picked up by officers in the Derbyshire area also carried out a further violent robbery when he threatened his victim with a brick.

Judge Amjad Nawaz told Wilson and Aston Davis, his partner in the first two offences: “These were extremely nasty robberies.”

Wilson who had recently been living in the Doxey area of Stafford and 21-year-old Davis of Bath Road, Worcester, both pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery and aggravated vehicle taking.

The two men were put behind bars for ten years for the offences while Wilson was given an additional four and a half years after admitting the other street robbery.

The judge said the two men first forced their way into the home of a 66-year-old woman in Tipton, they ripped a gold chain from her neck, she was manhandled and left psychologically damaged.

Then, just minutes later, the pair who were armed with knives raided the nearby home of another woman and, using violence, demanded the keys to her car.

They finally got away with her VW Golf together with jewellery and electrical goods while the victim’s grandmother was pushed over and she received head injuries Anthony Bell, for Wilson, who had been on the police wanted list, said his client continued to maintain he can put his life back onto the rails and make a living for his family.

The judge, passing sentence, told Wilson and Davis, the offences were so serious only substantial jail terms could be passed.
