COLLEY Gate post office and newsagents is to close for eight days to undergo a refit costing more than £10,000.
A customer-friendly open counter will replace the existing glass screened facility and opening hours will be extended at the Windmill Hill branch.
Post office manager Saeed Chafekar said current opening times of 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 1pm on Saturday will be extended to 7.30am until 6pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday opening from 8am until 1pm for the first time.
He said: “The opening hours will be more convenient for customers and enable us to provide a better service.”
Mr Chafekar said the open counter, alongside the newsagent’s counter will be manned by a second member of staff most of the time to avoid queuing and will be more customer-friendly, while not compromising on security.
“We hope our customers will bear with us while the work is carried out as it will result in a better services for them. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to close down for the eight days.”
The post office will shut next Monday (March 16) and re-open on Tuesday March 24.
