CHAOS is back in town as the Cradley Heath-based amateur operatic society launches rehearsals for the Black Country premiere of Miracle on 34th Street.

The curtain will rise on the new stage adaptation of the classic film at Brierley Hill Civic Hall in November.

Silver screen versions starred Maureen O’Hara, Natalie Wood and Richard Attenborough, telling the story of how a jolly department store Santa proves he is the real Santa Claus.

CHAOS press officer Paul Murdock said: “Filled with seasonal songs such as It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, we will be getting into the festive spirit pretty early as rehearsals start in May.”

The society is looking for would-be performers to take part in the show – and as usual with amateur operatic groups – is making a plea for men of all ages to swell the ranks.

Mr Murdock said they are also looking for children, aged eight to 12, to take part and they are invited along, with their parents, to find out more about the group and the show.

He said: “We aim to make this a family friendly show that everyone can enjoy and with new director Lloyd Wothers heading the production team we are looking forward to maintaining the high standards that our audiences as well as our members have come to expect.

“We are also introducing a matinee on the Saturday so everyone can join in the fun.”

“This is a thrilling time for CHAOS and we can’t wait to unwrap the production,” added Mr Murdock.

Rehearsals start on Tuesday May 12.
