YOUNG wheelchair users in Dudley now have access more services and activities thanks to a Big Lottery Fund grant.

Disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz has received £5.3 million to expand and improve youth services across the country, including its youth club in Dudley.

The Dudley Ambassador Club will now be able to offer more free support to youngsters to allow them to have fun and become confident and independent young adults.

Suzie Oktemgil, the charity's regional services co-ordinator, said: "I am really pleased that the Whizz-Kidz is now able to offer more services to young people in Dudley.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for the charity to reach out to more disabled children and young people than ever before in the area.

"We do loads of cool stuff informed by what the young people ask for and we are planning a great programme in which the young people have helped to plan activities for the rest of the year.

"We also provide health care assistants so the young people can stay and develop their independence."

The youth club is held once a month and the next session will take place on Saturday June 20.
