FOR the first time in the history of the borough, people can now donate to the Mayor of Dudley’s charities online.

Dudley Mayor, Councillor Steve Waltho, unveiled the new facility - which brings the civic role into the 21st century - allowing people to donate at the click of a button via mobile phones, tablets or laptops.

This year, the mayor is raising money for five charities - The Hope Centre, Halesowen, The What Centre, Stourbridge, More Mascots Please, Brierley Hill, The Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, and the West Midlands branch of Lupus UK, based in Coseley.

Cllr Waltho said: “Charity is something that is very close to my heart and I want to give people as much opportunity to help these charities as possible. Every penny that people donate really does make the world of difference.

“The generosity of people will help these worthwhile causes continue to do the vital work they do and there’s now more ways than ever before to get involved.”

People can also keep up to date with upcoming fundraising events thanks to the system which was set up by Castle & Crystal Credit Union via BT My Donate.
