TALENTED Halesowen teenager Scott Wilkes is singing for joy - after being booked for his first international gig and to have his name in lights alongside X Factor winner Sam Bailey.

The 19-year-old personal trainer, a former Windsor High School pupil, will appear in front of a crowd of 20,000 people at Benidorm Pride in Spain on September 11.

Then he will jet home to open a concert for Sam Bailey - the former prison officer who won X Factor in 2013 - at the ALEA in Nottingham the following night.

It's a dream come true for Scott, who is billed by his manager as "a young Olly Murs" but whose previous biggest audience was 2,000.

"I sort of have to pinch myself that it's all real," said Scott, who is a trainer at Workoutz Gym in Grammar School Lane.

He is also working with a producer in London to release his first single, a self-penned dance song, and is waiting to set a date in the autumn to appear at the Hippodrome in Leicester Square, London, with another former X Factor star, Chris Maloney.

Scott has been signed up by Halesowen-based Krystal Management, run by family friend Kym Rowlingson, who also represents Chris Maloney and TV and club aficionado Wayne Lineker.

He has been singing for just over three years, starting in pubs and clubs and moving on to perform at weddings and holiday parks around the country, fitting in his gigs between his stints at the gym..

He says he would not contemplate competing on X Factor himself, preferring to "work up the ladder" himself - although he is a fan of the show and rates Sam Bailey highly.

When he posted on social networking site Twitter that he would be appearing with Sam he was chuffed to see that she then "re-tweeted" his comment.

"It's gone ridiculous," said Scott, who lives in Laurel Lane, with his parents, Sharon and John, and brothers, Ross, 21, Danny, 17, and Shane, 14.

"From the start of this incredible journey my employers have been so amazing and understanding and I can't thank them enough.

"I have always worked hard to perform my very best at any gig, no matter the audience, so to now be signed to such a prestigious and well-established management company, who have given me the opportunity to perform to 20,000 people at Benidorm Pride, is truly mind-blowing.

"And, when I found out I was to be supporting the fantastic Sam Bailey, it was awesome."
