THE whistle-blowing former Sandwell Councillor who discovered the dodgy land deal which sparked the investigation into alleged corruption at Sandwell Council has demanded resignations.

Mick Davies was a Labour member for decades before resigning to be an independent councillor after growing disillusioned with the leadership under Cllr Darren Cooper.

Whilst trawling through council paper work he spotted the sale of public toilets at a vastly undervalued rate, he passed the paperwork to blogger Julian Saunders who began his own investigations, the News was the first Newspaper to publish the story.

Today, two years later Mr Davies reveals what he thinks about what should be done about Wragge Report which detailed shocking land sales, bullying and a failure of management processes at the authority.

He said: "It's a sad day for Labour in Sandwell. As a former member of the party and still a supporter I am greatly saddened by the antics of some of the members. Those driven by greed and self interest need expelling from the party.

"Others are complicit by their silence and the party nationally need to look at Sandwell Labour Group.

"Officers named in the report as falling well short of the profressional conduct expected should be sacked."

He added: "It would seem that incompetence at best permeates the whole of the senior officer group.

"The allegations against Hussain and others have been in the public domain for two years thanks to the perseverance of the Sandwell Skidder and the Halesowen News, yet this was ignored."

He added: "There are many questions to be asked and answered , what was the role of West Midlands Police.

"What was the role played by the recently expired leader?"

Mr Davies lamented his old party's "lack of socialist ideals in Sandwell".

He said: "I became a socialist because socialism is nothing unless it is a moral philosophy.

"Today people who have no right to be members have sullied this.
