FLOOD-hit Sandwell residents and businesses are being urged to fill in an online survey in a bid to prevent further problems caused by heavy downpours.

The council’s flooding survey will collect information about how many properties were flooded earlier this month, how seriously they were affected and if the problem has happened in the past.

Cabinet member for highways and environment Councillor David Hosell said: “If we can gather information about exactly where was flooded and how badly, this will help us work with the water companies and the Environment Agency to see what can be done.

Flash flooding caused several roads to be closed and damage included 180 council homes.

“Our staff have worked incredibly hard to help people who were affected by the flooding, said Cllr Hosell adding:

“Any more information we can gain about how the flooding affected properties in Sandwell will help us to prepare, and possibly prevent, further problems.”
