WITH the weather turning colder and the nights getting darker, borough residents are being reminded of the winter changes to the household waste recycling centre times.

From today (Saturday, October 1), the Dudley Council site in Birmingham Street, Stourbridge, will be open daily from 9am to 5pm for people to dispose of unwanted items.

While residents in the north of the borough who dispose of items at the Wolverhampton Council-run site in Coseley can use that facility from 10am until 4pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 8am to 4pm on weekends.

People can use both sites to dispose of general household and garden waste in addition to recycling materials including paper, cardboard, cans, and electrical items.

Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environment, said: “Over the winter months we find these the best times to suit our residents as they take advantage of daylight to dispose of items.

“These are brilliant facilities which provide residents with the opportunity to dispose of, or recycle, many items quickly and efficiently.”

People with vehicles above 6ft 6ins need to make appointments to use the site, while permits are required for cars towing trailers as well as commercial type vehicles.
