FESTVE fun is underway at Haden Hill House Museum in Haden Hill park, Cradley Heath with activities for all ages.

Staff at the Victorian House and the older 17th century farmhouse, known as Haden hall are preparing for their most traditional festive event which runs on Thursday, December 8 where visitors can travel back in time to festive seasons past.

Visitor services officer Alison Hyatt said: "A Candlelit Christmas has been a tradition at the site for around 10 years now and is really cosy and festive, it is guaranteed to warm your chestnuts.

"Both houses are beautifully decorated with the Victorian house being decorated for a Victorian Christmas with the dining table set for Christmas dinner and lit with candelabras.

"Visitors can also help the servants create paper chains for the servant’s areas of the house and enjoy a sing-a-long in the drawing room with our carol singers."

Jane Hanney, museums manager, added: "Haden Old Hall is also open and bathed in beautiful candlelight.

"The Old Hall dates back to the 1600s, a time when people did not have Christmas trees but did bring in ever green for the festive season."

She added: "Our volunteers have decorated the hall with real greenery, spices and oranges and it looks magnificent. We will also be lighting the real fires and visitors can enjoy Tudor festive music in the hall with the Night Watch historical music duo."

The event is open between 6:30pm and 8:30pm and costs £3 to visit both houses.

The tearoom will also be open serving some festive treats.

As well as a candlelit Christmas visitors can enjoy Santa in his grotto on December 11 between 11am and 3pm and our fabulous fairytale Christmas family fun day on December 18 with entertainment, pesky pirates, snow and fun between 11am and 3pm.
