THE Mayor of Dudley left the town's credit union with a huge smile on his face after hearing that online donations to his charities have already reached £1,500.

Councillor Dave Tyler visited Dudley's Castle & Crystal Credit Union as part of his pledge to visit 100 borough businesses during his mayoral year.

Through his visits, he aims to celebrate businesses' achievements and promote the support that is available to them from the council.

He said: “The credit union provides a real alternative to high street banks for both businesses and individuals.

"Their not-for-profit approach means that money stays within the community, benefiting the whole borough.

“I was delighted to be greeted with the news that my charity online fundraising facility, supported by Castle & Crystal, has already reached the £1,500 mark."

Cllr Tyler's chosen charities are Dudley Mind, the YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society.
