TWO friends will take a leap of faith to raise funds for three borough charities.

Shaz Saleem and Jesse Perkins are preparing to jump from a plane 10,000ft up in the air on August 26.

The pair will be raising funds for Dudley Mind, YMCA and Alzheimer's UK - the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler's chosen charities.

Mr Saleem, who lives in Kingswinford and was recently named as an ambassador to the mayor, said: "I've always enjoyed taking up a challenge for charity and this is a crazy but exciting challenge."

The chairman of Dudley's Private Hire and Taxi Association added: "Working as an ambassador to the mayor has given me an insight to the amazing work these three charities do and I look forward to doing my bit for them.”

Mr Perkins, from Dudley, admitted he was "nervous" ahead of the jump but was "excited and proud" to be raising funds for the charities.

People can sponsor the duo, who have already raised £760 of their £1,000 target, by visiting https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/shazsaleem1.

Cllr Tyler said he thought the men were "barmy but very brave", adding: "I cant' thank them enough, and everyone else who has donated so far.

"Please support them as we raise money for worthy causes."
