PEOPLE interested in fostering can find out more at drop-in sessions being held in Dudley borough this month.

Dudley Council’s fostering service is looking for new carers to provide homes for looked after children and will hold four information sessions in November.

The sessions offer an opportunity for people who have an interest in fostering to find out more by speaking informally to a member of the fostering team and also some of Dudley’s existing carers.

Information sessions will be taking place across the borough, with the first on Monday, November 13, at The Village Hotel, Castlegate Park from 6pm to 8pm.

The next will be on Wednesday, November 15, at the Council House, in Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, before another session on Friday, November 17, at DY1, in Stafford Street, Dudley from 10am to 1pm.

The following week, the team will be holding sessions on Monday, November 20, at Saltwells EDC, in Bowling Green Road from 10am to 1pm and on Wednesday, November 22 at the Council House, in Mary Stevens Park, from 1.30 to 3.30pm.

On the same evening, there will be a session at the Copthorne Hotel, in Level Street, Brierley Hill, from 6pm to 8pm before the team will finally be at The Savoy Centre, in Northfield Road, Dudley, from noon to 2pm, on Friday, November 24.

Councillor Anne Millward, cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “Our drop-in sessions are a great way to find out more about fostering in a friendly, relaxed environment.

“We’re always looking for new carers, from all walks of life, who can offer a safe and stable home to a child looked after in Dudley borough.

“No one has to make any commitment at the sessions, it’s just a chance to get some more information and ask questions to help make a decision.

People who can’t make the sessions should visit www.fosteringindudley.org.uk, email dudleycouncilplus@dudley.gov.uk, or call 01384 815833 for more information.

The service is keen to hear from anyone interested in fostering, but in particular from those who would like to care for teenagers, children with disabilities or those who could take more than one child so brothers and sisters can stay together.

They would also like to hear from people interested in long term fostering.
