A BROWNIE Guider has attended a special service at Westminster Abbey in recognition of her 42 years’ service to the young people of Cradley Heath.

Halesowen resident Hilary Bradley said she was “very humbled” to be invited to a national Scout and Guide service of celebration and thanksgiving in London last week.

She was invited to attend the service due to her continuous 42 years of working as a Brownie Guider at the 3rd Cradley Heath Brownies.

Known as Brown Owl to the Brownies, Hilary is also the captain to the Girl Guide section who meet at the Salvation Army base, in Meredith Street, each week.

Following her visit to the capital, Hilary said: “I was very humbled by the invitation to this service.

“The satisfaction of working with girls from a variety of backgrounds, coupled with the hope that many girls over the years have been influenced for good in some way is what had kept me going for all those years.”
