AUDIENCE favourite Patrick Monahan will be headlining a cracking night of comedy in Dudley this Friday.

He is top of the bill at The Lamp Tavern for the latest instalment of Loffs At The Lamp - a popular monthly club run by Dudley comic Wayne Beese.

Monahan shot to fame six years ago when he was crowned winner of ITV’s Show Me The Funny, a stand-up competition hosted by Jason Manford.

He has since gone on to appear on the likes of Splash, Celebrity Squares and a number of other panel shows, while simultaneously establishing himself as one of the finest stand-ups in the land.

The show will be hosted by Gareth Berliner, who played Macca in Coronation Street and has also appeared in the likes of Doctor Who and Eastenders.

Completing the line-up is Brummie funnyman James Cook and two newer acts tipped for big things in the shape of Mo Haroon, also from Birmingham, and Graham Whistler, from Bournemouth.

Beese said: “I’ve yet to meet an audience that doesn’t fall head over heels in love with Patrick Monahan.

“From the moment he comes on, hugging everyone on his way to the stage, he has them in the palm of his hand.

“He’s one of the very best out there and is as good as anyone in a small intimate room like the Lamp.

“It’s great to have Gareth hosting, who as well as being on the telly is also in the running for Best MC at the Midlands Comedy Awards. I’m a big fan of James Cook, who I think is a massively under-rated act, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Mo and Graham can do on the big stage.

“It promises to be a cracking night, so if you’re at a loose end snap up one of the few remaining tickets and come and join us.”

Doors open at 8pm, with the show starting at 8.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and can be booked via www.skiddle.com/e/12950773 or by calling 07759543750.
