A DANGEROUS section of Halesowen pavement has finally been repaired after calls from a councillor and residents.

Severn Trent carried out repairs to the footpath on Alexandra Road near its junction with Sunbury Road which had sunk due to a collapsed sewer last week.

Councillor Jill Nicholls and a host of residents were angry the situation had been left for eight weeks, with the damaged section of footpath left fenced off with barriers, despite numerous calls to Severn Trent.

Cllr Nicholls said: “Contractors arrived on Wednesday carried out the repairs and re-surfaced the footway. The job was completed by the weekend.

“I was very concerned about the health and safety of people using the footway especially the disabled and mothers with young children in pushchairs having to walk around the barriers along the edge of a busy road.

“I am satisfied that the job has been completed and the footway is now back in use.”
