A RENEWABLE energy specialist based in Kidderminster has been awarded contracts worth £500,000 by house-builders Lovell, Jessup and Mansell to install solar PV on 11 new housing schemes across Birmingham.

All of the schemes are for Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT) and will see Eco2Solar installing 1.5kWp six-panel solar panel energy systems on 230 new homes.

The solar PV installations are already under way for Lovell on 187 homes at six schemes in Perry Common, Wyrley Birch, Lozells, West Heath, Shenley Fields and Four Oaks.

Other contracts include two schemes for Jessup at Dawberry Fields, Brandwood and Woodside Road in Selly Oak plus another three schemes for Mansell at Dimmingsdale Bank in Quinton, Birchfield Road, Aston and Stockman’s Close in Kings Norton.

When all the schemes are up and running, Eco2Solar’s solar PV systems are expected to produce more than 300,000kWh of green energy a year, equivalent to about 170 tonnes of CO2 a year.

All electricity generated will be used by individual homeowners to help reduce their energy costs and provide a sustainable energy source.

Eco2Solar’s sales director Ryan Mee said: “Eco2Solar is delighted to work with BMHT and their key contractors Lovell, Mansell and Jessup on a scheme so close to our heartland in the West Midlands.

“This is a real testament to the quality of our work and the strength of our partnerships and this project will be instrumental in securing growth for Eco2Solar.”

David Gough, regional director at Lovell, said: “Eco2Solar has delivered reliable, cost-effective solutions and proved to be a good partner. Our work with BMHT is very important to us so it is crucial that suppliers like Eco2Solar match the same high standards we set ourselves and I’m pleased to say that they have.”

Eco2Solar is part of the Eco2Solutions group, which provides renewable energy solutions for private homes, commercial buildings and social housing across the Midlands.

The family-run business set up by managing director Paul Hutchens in 2007 has completed more than 4,000 installations.
