A WYRE Forest computing firm visited a Stourport school to spread to word about working in the IT industry.

OGL Computer, which has office in both Stourport and Kidderminster, has been spreading the word at Stourport High School and Sixth Form looking for talented individuals to join its work experience placement scheme.

The IT company, which employs around 240 members of staff, spoke to students about opportunities within the IT industry for keen, technology-minded youngsters about career options with them once leaving school.

Amy Tonks, OGL HR team, said: "It was a delight to visit Stourport High School and Sixth Form Centre and meet the students and teachers to talk to them about OGL Computer and what we can offer for those about to leave school and thinking about a future in IT. We’re one of the major employers in the area and still growing and we want to make sure that local people know we offer great career options."

School careers advisor, Caroline Hunter, welcomed the visit on Thursday, April 16, for both the pupils' future and that of the connections between the educational institution and the local business.

She said: "We very much welcome links with local businesses that our pupils may be interested in one day working for. Wyre Forest has a wealth of successful organisations, OGL Computer being one of them. It’s so valuable that our pupils have chance to learn about these types of companies and take inspiration from them."

While visiting the school, 16-year-old Stourport High student Joseph Webster was present with an iPod which he won at last month's Worcestershire Skills Show at the Sixways Stadium, in Worcester, which OGL participated in.
