BROMSGROVE residents affected by the Longbridge Plant closure are being invited to take part in an innovative web project.

The project, called Retooled, aims to share people’s experiences online while giving them the opportunity to learn new web and digital skills.

A group of up to 10 former Longbridge workers will be selected and tasked with creating a website with support from a team of experts.

Lizzie Ostrom, project coordinator said: “For many people, the closure of the Longbridge plant in 2005 represented the end of an era for traditional manufacturing in the region and the UK.

“By giving the participants new skills in digital media, web design and film, we hope that the project will enable them to pass on their experiences and advice to an even wider audience, and potentially offer support to those who may be about to lose their jobs in both manufacturing and other industries.”

The Retooled project is looking for 8-10 former Longbridge workers to take part.

Anyone interested should be available on the evening of Thursday, June 24 and can email lizzie@retooled.co.uk for more details.
