Cycling club gears up for gunpowder plot tribute ride

STOURBRIDGE Cycling Club are plotting a ride on the eve of Bonfire Night to commemorate the events of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

Non-members and guest riders are invited to join club members on the 38.51-mile route which will start out at 9am on Sunday November 4 from the old library on the corner of Hagley Road and Church Street, Stourbridge.

Keiron McMahon from the club said: “Although the plans for the journey are top secret, riders can expect an interesting route as they go on the run through some of the lesser-known and rarely used lanes of North Worcestershire.

“With a steady pace of around 12mph, Sunday’s gunplotting escape route will end in a suitably-named hostelry in Stourbridge at approximately 1.30pm.”
