DUDLEY Council is trying to decide what to do with a run-down block of shops and maisonettes in Kingswinford.
Disused shops in Beech Road have become a haven for vandalism and fly-tipping – members of Brierley Hill Area Committee heard at last night’s last ever meeting (Thursday).
Patricia Dolan, team manager in the Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services, told the meeting at The Brier School in Kingswinford that council officers have been making weekly visits to check on the site and council officers are currently in discussions with the police about the possibility of drafting in help from those on the Community Payback scheme to clear overgrown vegetation.
A report to the committee states the site could potentially be developed to meet increasing demand for social housing but before any plans are made public a consultation will be held with residents directly affected.
