CHILDREN at The Ridge in Wollaston have been getting mad about science and teaching their parents a thing or two.
The Gregory Road school has been holding a series of events to bring pupils and parents together so mums and dads can get more involved in the learning process.
Family learning afternoons featuring craft workshops and jewellery-making courses in the evenings have been laid on - and most recently the school organised a science event which saw year six youngsters and their parents teaming up to learn about energy and famous scientists including Sir Isaac Newton who discovered gravity.
Headteacher Deb Hudson said: “We’ve been working towards reaching for the Leading Parent Partnership Award over the last 18 months - working alongside parents so they feel part of what’s going on in school.
“We recieved the award after an assessment last month which was a lovely recognition but we’re always looking for future ways to engage parents in their childrens’ learning.”
